Starting this Saturday, February 4th, Wisdom Course Leaders will be hosting Vacation Course Drop-In’s on the first Saturday of each month,. Wisdom graduates are invited to join us - drop in, share, or hear what others have to say about being in the Wisdom Vacation Courses.

The February 4th call will be hosted by Marjie Parrot.  The opening conversation will be the TYS series (TYS1 & TYS2).  If you've done TYS1 but not TYS2, this is a great chance to hear about that course -- the next one is a cruise out of Miami, Feb 25-March 3 -- I'm going!

One of the best ways to find out about Transforming Yesterday's Strategies (TYS), Structural Connections, Exploring the Fulfilled Life and the Year End Vacation is to hear what people participating in them have to say about what’s happening in their lives now.

Would you like to share about Wisdom Vacation Courses you've done? Do you want to hear what other Wisdom graduates have to say after participating in the courses? Details of the call are posted on the Events page: http://playwisdom.ning.com/events/vacation-course-drop-in-call-9-10...

Just got home from doing TYS in Puerto Vallarta and the coaches training at Weekend 2 of the Introduction Leaders Program in San Francisco.  Wow - what an amazing trip.  Knowing why and when I developed the strategy for "poking the bear" has really made a whole new life available for me!  That's just one thing I got but since I'm back at work and that's where I've used that strategy the most lately, it's really present in my occuring world.

I recall Joan saying hook the practice to something really easy like when you say hello. I keep noticing my strategies and new ones appear and sometimes I even put my cards on the table. I am a master at interrupting- great strategy- and owning up to doing it in the moment has been a lot of fun.

Hi ho,
Just seeing that we haven't had many comments since 2008. How the heck are you guys? I still remember TYS and do think of youse guys often. I'm doing well working in Evergreen, CO, for Bentek Energy writing about natural gas. Cheers! Scott

Hello everyone. I am truly inspired by what everyone is up to. I am having fun being a community leader and communicator for Partnership. I also registered into Power and Contirbution. I can't wait. In addition the possibility I invented for myself and my life as Introduction Leader is being playful, excited and in partnership with every Introduction Leader. I miss all of you and can't wait to hear more on South Africa, teaching and whatever else TYS people are up to. Happy Holidays to everyone. Love, Mark

I just started the "Being Extraordinary" seminar here in Durham NC, one of the promises is that we are left with the possibility of not reacting to life, I am looking forward to that and creating a integrity list. I find myself creating the people in my life as a person, and it just doesn't feel the same as the exercises we did in Hawaii. A special thanks to Katie for sharing her poetry and promising to write a book of poetry by the end of the year if I understood her intention. Raquel, what a inspiring report on your trip to South Africa, and I am sure they appreciated the dance workshop, you are quite a good dancer. I am going on the year end cruise and look forward to seeing those of you that will be on the cruise. I have broken up with Laura (I won the game of being alone once again). I miss all of you very much and especially the space we created in Hawaii, as always I remain

Yours Truly,

Otis

Hello wonderful people,

Raquel here! I am writing to share with you photos of the kids I worked with at COSAT, the institute of Science and Technology in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, South Africa. It was an amazing journey and experience for me both personally and as an inspiration to continue to pursue what truly matters to me; that all children are empowered and have the opportunity to live a life beyond their wildest dreams.

In the face of the unimaginable circumstances, these kids some of whom have lost their parents to AIDS and drug addiction, live in extreme poverty, face racism and economic hardship, walk at least 50 minutes a day back and forth to get to school and are still brilliant at Math and Science. Education is not free in South Africa and these four hundred students out of thousands get an opportunity to be educated at this high school. The reality is that many have neither the resources nor the support to continue on to university. What they wrote and what they shared made me cry. It’s one thing to read about or even hear stories of children in Africa, but to hear it from the child that is only fourteen who now takes care of her two siblings because the parents have died is quite another experience. They really inspired me.

I was very moved by their story and that they still persevere in the face of all circumstances doing whatever needs to be done to survive. It reminded me of myself as I grew up without a father and being one of many had to persist in creating the life I wanted.

I did two workshops. The first: Dance as a metaphor for leadership and they just loved it! We also engaged in an inquiry about leadership. If to lead is to serve, then what is being of service? We found that being of service does not involve servitude or doing the good or right thing. True service involves giving one’s life to something that is worthy of one’s life, a commitment that is larger than the individual, to which they give themselves freely and that is directly related to what matters to them. I had them write an essay on what matters to them AND I ENCOURAGE YOU TO PLEASE VIEW THE WEBSITE: www.lovetotheworld.org AND RESPOND TO THEM VIA THE COMMENT TAB next to their photo and essay about what matters to them. I told them that even though they don’t know you, you know them and you care.

So here is a link to the photos:

I will be organizing a meet and greet when one of the founders comes to NYC. There is much to be done. I will be continuing fundraising efforts and that one or many of you will accompany me next May to do other workshops.

Please feel free to email me at: raquelon2@gmail.com with any questions.

PS All is well with my health! Hooray!
