I'm hosting a Wisdom Intro at my house on November 20, 2011 -- my birthday!  So there will be cake and wine and the excellent Wisdom leader Mary Artz.  Email me if you'd like more info.  cathysmith2222@gmail.com

Helene - please check our website wisdomdc.com for a schedule of coursework parties. Also, please email me directly to marieisabel@comcast.net with your contact info in DC (cell phone and location where you are staying) and I can help by forwarding to the Accomplishment Team. Thanks!

Hi What I'm up to in the world is having my promise fulfilled. And to have a blast while doing so. My promise is that by 2020 all of us on the planet will sustain ourselves, our communities, and our environments. My work is my strategy to fulfill on the promise, building partnerships with corporations and foundations to co-invest with our Government to help solve tough problems in developing countries. For fun I love to salsa dance - do any of you know the best places to dance? (I'm single). And of course I love course parties cause they're so fun! Look forward to hearing back from you, Monika

Have you heard that the Wisdom Course, starting in 2010, will have a whole new structure for the social portion of the course? No more Saturday Community and Social Events. And Sunday will be a "Social Commons" day, with graduates and guests welcome for the whole day. (I hear that the day will be divided into segments, so you can decide which part of the day you want to spend with us -- or come for the whole day. Please put Sunday, March 28th on your calendar. We'll be putting out more information as we have it.

I'm just back from the Wisdom Vacation Course, Romance and Other Escapes from Reality. I saw, in a wonderful new way, how making things wrong -- people, situations, ourselves -- makes it difficult or impossible to be effective in fulfilling what we want. Imposing our "shoulds" and "shouldn't"s on what is so distances us from the way things really are. In 9 days with Brian Regnier and the other consultants, we explored how being in an "argument with reality" freezes us and the reality we're resisting. A simple (but not necessarily easy) way to break that logjam? Forgiveness. Not as something that can be earned, but as a pure act of generosity. Give it a try when you're making yourself or someone else wrong.

I will be in the cast of the Vagina Monologues, on Friday January 30 and Saturday January 32st at 8 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, 2709 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton, VA 22124. The play is about women taking back their power. It is moving, funny and heartbreaking, and is part of V-day - a movement to end violence against women and children. All proceeds go to the Women's Shelter (Artemis House) and the Coalition against violence to Women. For tickets please call UUCF at 703-281-4230 or contact me. I'd love to see some of my Wisdom friends at the show!
